‘Call Her Ganda’ An Intersectional Doc at Tribeca

Still3_CHG_VigilIn 2014 Jennifer Laude was murdered in the Philippines by a U.S. Marine. The death of Laude, a Filipina trans woman, ignited protests not only from the LGBTQ and allies community, but from the Filipino general population fed up with the neocolonialist relationship between the U.S. and the Philippines. It’s an extraordinary documentary that really allows the intersectional issues and the complexity of US/Philippines relations to come through. I was able to interview key people involved with the documentary Call Her Ganda this year at the Tribeca Film Festival. The story is in this week’s Provincetown Magazine. Have a look here.
